June 10th and July 29th show reports
09:07:2005
Two show reports for the price of one. Actually for the price of none, as no one's paying for us to put these show reports up. Probably no one's reading them either...
So in the face of such futility, we at Blunt would like to report that the June 10th Blunt Club at the 491 Gallery was a really good one. The audience was sizeable and enthusiastic, the films and sketches well received, and the traditional big bowl of free sweets was duly hoovered up. Anyone who had been at our March 5th show and had made a plasticene character had the joy of watching their figure animated as part of the Golf's little friends segment before they were all mowed down by a machine gun wielding Little Bob. If any of this sounds confusing then obviously you haven't been to enough Blunt Clubs.
Now the July 29th show was our first intercontinental event, held in the mystical redwood grove of the Henry Miller Memorial Library in Big Sur, California, USA. The stars came out, as did an audience of blanket-clad Americans who being Blunt Club virgins really didn't know what to expect. Luckily the sight of Mick Roads shitting into a plastic bag had the desired effect of raucous laughter (well, it sounded like laughter) and the show was a great one. In fact we've had invitations to return and do a 3 city tour of California's west coast. We'd have to pay our own airfare, but that's life in the Underground. Sometimes you've got to put the show before the profit.
Still, show and profit would be nice.
